pyNeighborhood

pyNeighborhood is GTK+ 2 rewrite of a well-known GTK+ 1 tool LinNeighborhood(using pyGTK), so it is the GUI frontend for samba tools, such as smbclient, smbmount etc. It's written in Python and uses the GTK+ 2 toolkit with pyGTK implementation.

I have began implementation of the group browser to pyNeighborhood, so the SVN version may be temporarily unusable (I mean that some group browser functionality may be missing there). Anyway, you may download the latest preview snapshot without it: pyNeighborhood-0.3pre1 . It is not release but it seems to be stable enough.

Well, I can inform everyone that I have (at last!) returned and proceed working with pyNeighborhood. I've began a total redesign of pyNeighborhood code and almost finished it: I have replaced deprecated Itemfactory with new UIManager, changed configuration file style and rewrote parsers from scratch to allow some more features (such as mounting using a command from list, for example smbmount and mount.cifs), made a lot of GUI improvements etc. The release is not so close but anyway I am working on it. Thank you for your patience.

Currently I am working at 0.2rc2, which possibly will become 0.2. A lot of bugs have been already fixed, but at least one bug still remains. Oh, one more thing - I have added icons of hosts and shares to pyNeighborhood, and created native pyNeighborhood icon. You can see it above. Thanks to Tomislav Markovski who created gnant Gnome icon theme, I've based this logo on his icons.

pyNeighborhood-0.2rc1 released. Look at Changelog and download it. The main purpose of this release is to add some necessary features included in LinNeighborhood and missing in pyNeighborhood. Though there is no group browser yet, it already has bookmarks mechanism and mounts monitor. A significant decision about interface design was made - now PyNeighborhood provides tab-based interface instead of LinNeighborhood.

pyNeighborhood-0.1 is almost out. The final code cleanup is being made. Serious bug with mounting on a non-existing folder was fixed. Added some new features such as graphical configuration tools.
